Hi, Kelly. I'm fine. Just really busy. Vacation ended and back to work and I'm in total overload mode since we are short-staffed right now. Some days I feel like a chicken without a head. Other days I feel fine, and carry around the attitude that "I'm doing the best I can and nobody better criticise me because there's only so much one person can do at one time!" The others in my office who are on overload are in similar boats, although I ended up with the biggest overload for various reasons that are too irrelevant here to go into. But we are all using humor to get through it. As it happens, some of the humor is at the bosses' expense, he he... Well, that may be well deserved on their part because they managed the anticipation of the staffing shortage poorly, first of all, and on top of that, our immediate manager is rather inept and lacks any semblance of leadership skills. He has not taken on his share of the overload, but keeps pointing out to all of us how many portfolios he has to manage now (30% more than usual) AND do his management work, blah blah blah. My closest colleague is also 30% overloaded but doesn't complain about that. In fact, he would take on more if, in exchange, they wouldn't make him work under this manager, LOL. Me? My extra docket is 50% higher. You'd kind of think a manager would step in in a crisis and take on more to help us all out. No, just whine, whine whine. So, hence the humor at his expense (behind his back, of course).

But despite the overload and the potential for burn out, I'm ok. I've actually felt good about the work I've been doing. And actually, we're now getting close to hiring someone so the overload should be relieved in the next month or so (hopefully).

My house is a mess, of course, but that's old news.

How are you doing, Kelly?

well i can see that you've been very busy w/ work, try not to overload your self w/ it, i don't want you to get in a rut.
well for me i'm doing good for the first time in my life, we moved out of NJ to OK last week it was a he!! of a move. we left fri at 12pm and got to OK 8pm sat. the move was very scary i had to drive behind my husband the whole way w/ kids and 2 cats. i love it here and things are so much cheaper out here. the kids are happy that we moved here. i found a mental health clinic that i go to this thursday, little scared about going but it's not the first time i had to change dr's. but it's like starting all over all the ?'s they ask and all. well wish me luck this thurs. kellyr.

WOW! That is a big move! Congratulations and best of luck in your new place.

I also hope the appointment goes well. I have no idea what kinds of MH resources OK has--I guess we might learn about them from you!

Did the kids start school in their new schools yet? Hope that is going well.

I wonder if OK has a more relaxed atmosphere than NJ--if so, maybe that will be good for you, too.

Best wishes and good luck with settling in to your new home.

It seems you're on much more level ground than you previously were--which I think is great news. Balance is everything!

I'm delighted to hear your children are ok, in school, and...if it's any comfort...there are SO many children who have a hard time reading and grow out of it--please don't let that overly worry you!

I'm so very happy you are sounding like you're gonna stick around for a while! Whew! I was very worried!

Please take good care,
Shar
