I think I posted 1/6/04 about what was supposed to be a UTI of some sort. Never got that fully resolved.
I think in early February, I was diagnosed bipolar 2 and PTSD. I had a breakdown of sorts at work, went directly to my docs office and got an accurate DX after 20 years. She sent me home for 2-4 months to get well. I ended up being out for 8 weeks and, thank my lucky stars, was paid for it.
During that time, I worked my butt off outside. Two days after being put on Zyprexa, I had a whole lot of energy and ended up cleaning 2 lots, planting flowers, and tons of other stuff. I'm now on Symbyax 6mg/50mg.
About week five, I came down with a 102.5 fever and went to see my PCP. I also had extreme muscle aches. My doc ordered tests and started me on an AB, Avelox...I was allergic. Covered with a rash from my knees to the top of my head. Whelps, very gross...very.
Next day, more lab work, switched me to Biaxin and I finished the series. My doc was out of town, so his PA gave me Prednisone tablets. No shot because if I had a reaction, you can't be unshot. I was also given a good med for the rash but can't remember the name.
All conditions cleared up and my happy*** went back to work...for one week. Last Friday, 16th?, after coming home from work, the fever, chills and extreme leg and some back pain came back. I missed last week and have no idea how much longer I'll have whatever I have. Everyday, my fever maxes about 102 and fluctuates. I take 800mg ibuprofen every 6 hours to help the pain and fever. My latest bloodwork showed Calcium was 8.2. Normal is 8.5-10.5. High or low calcium isn't good. My doc called me back in for more blood so they could check my parathyroid. I thought, what the heck is a parathyroid?
Anyway, that was yesterday so hopefully, they can solve this medical mystery.
I began researching all these diseases and stopped pretty fast. It literally could be one of hundreds of conditions, none good.
My doctor, after the first go-round said he thought my prostate may have become inflammed and leaked fluid into my bloodstream "which can make you deathly ill." He also said he was worried about me.
Went back to my Urologist who didn't buy the prostate thing but did some cultures and consulted with my PCP. Hopefully, all these blood and urine cultures will show something(parathyroid isn't out of the realm of possibilities)and I can get back to wrestling huge bipolar debt.
My doctor said if he couldn't find it, the next step would be to see an infectious disease specialist.ps..I woke up late last night burning up and Jules, my cat was roasting marshmallows on my head. I told him "not funny, wise guy." He said
"yawant one?" "Sure, I'll go get the weenies out of the refrigerator, too." He replied with his standard phrase,"Let's rock, Big Daddy."Peace and thanks for reading.

OMG, Phil. That is gruesome. I'm so sorry. How horrible.
I am glad you posted. I was just planning tonight to post a "Where is Phil?" post because so much time had gone by.
I do hope they figure this out and find a way to treat it quick and easy and comfortably so you can be well again.
Say hi to your very witty cat!
Sleep well tonight, Phil.

That's horrible. I'm so sorry you're going through such hell. I hope the docs figure it out soon.
Hang on, and give Jules a graham cracker to go with that marshmallow (I don't know about chocolate, tho. It isn't safe for pups).
Sending positive thoughts your way.

Thanks for the kind words and support. Here's a not too pretty update.
I woke up about 1 a.m. shivering a lot..more than usual. It took me a long time to reach up and turn off the AC. Got back under the covers and it probably took an hour to get warm enough to get up and take ibuprofen and take my temperature.
It was 104.2. I took the ibuprofen and drank a lot of water, paused, then threw up 3 times. I don't remember the last time that happened and hope to forget this episode soon.
I took more ibuprofen and laid back down. I think the fever dropped fairly fast once the AC was back on. This has been one bad night.
I'm calling my doctors exchange(this morning)to lite a fire under his behind although I think he's doing what he can. This fever may change the urgency..I don't know.
Monday, hopefully the labs will show something.
My fever now is around 100 which is tolerable.I want to tell you guys how much your support has meant to me over the years. Y'all are some mighty special people to me.
This is the end of the thread.
