It's just me, whining again...

Well, I called the med clinic today, about the problem with the Xanax. It was even better than I had anticipated! Let's see, they can't prescribe a new bottle, because it's a controlled substance, you see -- it would be against the law. Neither the pharmacy nor the clinic is able to accept back the bottle I now have for replacement, because they can't refill it again so soon, even if it is defective. So you see, they can't do anything at all for me, but keep taking the meds and sleep well.

You know what? I did a lot today. I hijacked our marriage counseling to talk about this, after two nights of inadequate sleep, and our counselor -- bless her! -- called the doctor's office. She said that her message to him said that she was pretty sure he didn't appreciate the extent of my distress, and she'd like to talk to him about my care. My therapist did call back, but only to say that the medication clinic said to continue taking the drugs as instructed and she'll see me at our next appointment. Hello? I'm going to take a drug that agitates me this much at night, for sleep?

I am trying so hard to hang on, right now, and every time I turn to them for help, there's none there. Today, I told my therapist, when she called me back, that I have worked in non-profit organizations, that I have sympathy for what they go through -- but until she defers her own pay in order to keep that center open, until her electricity if shut off because she has in effect donated her entire paycheck back to that organization, she really couldn't come looking to me for sympathy about it. Yeah, it's appropriate and necessary to create a certain barrier between the doctors and the patients -- it's the only way they could survive there! When it becomes a barrier to care, though, there's something very wrong.

OK, who wants to hear my opinions?
