It talks about the legal liabilities doctors face in terminating that relationship, and it might give you some insight into what you're going through right now.
It's not right that doctors have to consider these aspects in treating patients, but it is a reality for them. I'm betting that if you talk to him about it, he'll be open to exploring your options. (And pay special attention to the little instructions at the end: your doctor really should help you find appropriate care. It really is part of his job.)

that was interesting reading. part of me thought i'm an angel compared to some of the patients in those articles, my problem is i'm too complicated. there's a problem with suicide and not too many pdocs can handle that risk. plus i just don't seem to respond to meds. my pdoc seems to think my 'salvation' will lie in therapy. anyway, he doesn't have any ideas for local docs. he suggested i see my local therapist, and there is a pdoc in her group that he'll talk to about meds. he promised to keep my records private (that was really important to me).
