Anyone going to Bimini this Christmas?

Posted by shar on December 18, 2003, at 23:42:35

Just thought I'd ask.

Seems pretty quiet over here. I hope that is a sign that folks are doing well, and busy making happy holiday plans.

My sweetie and I had our one year anniversary yesterday. It's nice that we still love each other and get along well, even thru some financial woes.

I hope every body has a happy holiday!

xoxo

I'll go, if that's the case...

Because my mother is concerned that no one else in the family find out what's gone on this year -- the suicide attempt, the hospitalization, etc -- we're minimizing the Family Encounters. I'll go up to see my mother and my aunt before the big day, and then my Amazingly Devoted Husband Who Puts Up With Me and I will go to Mother's for a while on Christmas day.

Otherwise, just trying to get back to functionality. I've still got a few fritzes, but it seems to be getting better -- I think. Mind you, I've finally discovered the Big Secret: everyone else knows me a lot better than I know myself, so I'm the last one to ask about how I am. {{sigh}} Who knew?

That said, I'm alive, I'm still married, and I get dressed every day. I guess that counts as a lot, when you come right down to it.

No, but I can be easily tempted...

Happy one-year anniversary, Shar!

Don't I wish!

Racer--it has been a helluva year, hasn't it? I'm sure glad you figured out what counts (the last line of your post). I think, bottom line (what a fitting pun), that is what they call life. I do hope things keep creeping along toward 'better.' I hope that for all of us.

Allison--thank you! I hope you have good holidays.

Hi, all. Yep, it's been quiet here. Shar, I've never been to the islands. Sounds good to me. When you comin to pick me up?

Happy anniversary, Shar and Shar's honey!

Racer, you sound wonderful to me. As does your DH. Yes, do keep the family visits as limited as you need them to be--and I hope you find a way to have some joy.

Allison--enjoy the tree and holidays. Sorry about your cat's illness.

Kath--Hi. Enjoy your med free Christmas!

As for me, I've been pretty good, but these weekends roll around and so do I. I just roll about the apt., lazy girl that I am. I'm sad that I didn't get out and enjoy the sun today. But I slept late and feel super slothful--I was extremely tired after the work week. But during the week I'm working hard and trying to find a way to begin to balance my life out a bit.

I wonder how the others are doing?

MIC and y'all,

What time does the plane leave, and exactly what is a Bimini anyway? Wow, a whole year already? I'm really very happy for you. I hope your beau knows what a lucky guy he is to have you!

I'm on my first vacation (real one anyway) in over three years. We had planned to go to a cabin up near Lake Tahoe for four days and do all the neat stuff. You know, cuddling in front of the fireplace, making snow angels and snowmen, having snowball fights. But Mary is fighting the cold from hell, and NaShay is just getting over a real nasty bout of bronchitis. I've had a two week cold that's just been gone for 2 or 3 days now. Brandon's about due to get something...

My job situation is looking safer...for now. A month ago my department had seven people working in it, and in that time, we've had four of them give notice and go back to work for their old company. We are seriously backlogged with work. One of the department heads said that I have been taken off the "endangered species" list. The lead who has always treated me like garbage, is now treating me so well because he knows he can't afford to lose me. It's so comical. But I'm continuing to look for other work just like I have been for months now, and if I find something, I'm gone. The market is starting to loosen up a bit and I'm encouraged by that.

Well, I hope this finds everyone doing well, or at least as well as can be expected. I hope you get what you've wished for this Xmas, even if it's getting the holiday over with as quickly as possibly. I know a lot of people are wishing for that.

Everybody take good care. Alyssa says hi, she really can say that now. And she says ball, and mine, and papa (that's my favorite). :)

Love to all,
Greg

Hmmm, sounds really nice. beach, sun, drinks with umbrellas- I'm there in spirit.
A whole year! That is soooo awesome. When you stay together through financial difficulties (marriage's #1 problem) you can weather anything.
I wish you both a holiday filled with beauty, peace and happiness- judy
P.S.- Santa will be at my house eating his cookies and drinking milk, Gabrielle's big brother knows when to keep quiet (and I think he half believes anyway).

Maybe this would work.....

Well, given the interest, and the fun we would all undoubtedly have together as old-timers, I think we should head for Bimini.

The best transportation I've come up with so far is the back roads of our minds. Whatcha think?

And, very little packing required!

Wait, what was the name of the boat Gary Hart was on to go to Bimini? Maybe we could haul it out of the scrap yard and sail away......

That was what made it so hilarious and so tawdry. The boat was called Monkey Business or Monkee Business, I forget which.

Now that you've got the details lining up, count me in.

LOL!!

At least Donna Rice has moved on and established herself in a more dignified light.

What ever happened to Gary?

Last I heard, Gary Hart was hanging out with Bigfoot and Elvis, shopping at K-Mart, eating at roadside diners, but that could be an urban legend...

Well, curiosity got me...I searched on Google and he is alive and well and practicing law in Colorado and speaking and writing, etc. He chaired a committee on national security. He even has a Blog!
