I can't wake up

Posted by Rach on July 18, 2002, at 23:03:20

I'm not having so many problems falling asleep these days. But now I can't wake up. I sleep through four different alarms, and many telephone calls. I do wake up when these things happen, but not enough to be able to get myself thinking abd realising why these noises are happening. I wake up just long enough to stop the noise, and then I immediately fall asleep again.

I've missed so many morning appointments because of this. How can I get myself to wake up?

R,
Is it a meds thing? Too much sedation?

I have a terrible time waking up also. I make a valiant effort to get afternoon appointments whenever possible, and to work late shifts (starting midday). When I had an 8-5 job, it was just terrible; luckily, most of my bosses did not mind lateness if I worked extra at the end of the day.

I have 3 alarms. One is a radio alarm, cranked up LOUD just on the edge of a station so there is talk and static. The other two are called "Siren" and are just alike--super loud. I have them all set at different wake up times, so I can hit the snooze(s) but there is always one going off again real soon. I've used travel alarms (have 3 of those also) as backups during times when I have insomnia, and set them to go off about a half hour later than the main 3.
