Any Subject you choose

Posted by kiddo on May 24, 2002, at 12:32:46

I joined really late in 2000 so feel kinda weird being here....I apologize for everything I said about being against the 2K board because I know what y'all mean now....

I don't care much for PSB, PBA, or PB right now and just wanted to 'converse' with someone that isn't going to attack me or question my replies with demeaning retorts or venom in tone...

Just feel like a 5th wheel right now...

Thanks for listening-

Kiddo

Welcome! Glad you are here. I don't have a lot to talk about at the moment other than school is over right now and I survived my finals. Now am working on some projects that my advisor wants.

I am on my second week of a med change. I was on WB 150 2X/day; Serzone 150 2X/day. Now am on WB 150 2X/day; Serzone 150 at night; Zoloft teeny-tiny start-up amount (12.5mg?) in the morning. So far, feel no difference cutting the Serzone in half and feel nothing from the Zoloft, which I gave up four years ago because I couldn't tolerate it.

Feeling old right now. I went to the eye doctor last week. I have never had to wear glasses (I am 40). Now I need BIFOCALS!! I guess this really IS an oldtimer's board, now that I think of it. Maybe it's causing my eyesight to go. That must be it. I couldn't be that I am aging...

Anyway, welcome. I hope you like it here.

Take care.

Allison

Thanks for the kind post :-)

It's really weird to be a newbie on the OT board :-) I'm sure there's something philosophical (sp?) in there somewhere...

May I ask your major? I'm taking a break from school right now... Double major in Psychology/Computer Science with a minor in Business Management.

What kind of projects are you involved with, unless it's a top-secret-guinea-pig-research kind of thing of course :-)

Why the med change, were there problems before? If you've already said all of this, just tell me to read threads :-) I don't wanna make you retype all of this...

Perhaps titrating the Zoloft is to see if you can tolerate it now vs. previously? (don't know but it sounds good typing it). Will the Zoloft replace the WB? I'm not familiar with Serzone although it does have a ring to the name...

I feel pretty old myself (I'm 33). Too many hours working, not enough sleep, watching my little girl grow up before my eyes....

Bifocals just let you see twice as good? My pdoc asked me one day if the glass was half full or half empty, my response was that it depends on what's in the glass :-)

Of course it's the boards fault, the little text box, small fonts, I'm sure there are more we can think of at some point.

Thanks for your kind welcome, and yes I like it here :-)

That's the good thing about us old timers kiddo. We aren't the attacking type. It always felt safe and now it does again.
Welcome and I'm glad you are here too.

Kiddo,

I'm majoring in horticulture. I've been a journalist for about 18 years. I have always been interested in hort, but didn't think it would make a viable career. Now I am aiming to combine the two and write for/edit horticultural publications.

Med change is one in a string of med changes over the past 4 years. School work was becoming overwhelming. My anxiety and obsessive worrying got worse. I got to a point where I wept at the drop of a hat. So my pdoc suggested trying Zoloft again (after finals), titrating slowly upward. It's supposed to be replacing the Serzone. WB has been the most effective drug I have taken.

It's to a point I can't read the clock on the microwave from across the room. And now that they have confirmed that I can't see, I notice it more...

Oh well.

Take care.

Allison

Ali,
Always nice to read about Babblers who have actual productive lives. Your career and current interests are intriguing.

I loved Zoloft. It was the only med I've ever had that made me feel what I think is "normal." I did not feel depressed, blue, bummed, etc. for several months. It was like a miracle, really. It pooped out after about 4 months--but I remember it well.

Hope it works for you.
Shar

Hi Shar,

Thanks. Zoloft so far has not produced any adverse effects. I don't even notice tremor, though I'm only at 25mg right now.

Take care.

Alli
