I am a 32 yr. old female mother of 2. I have suffered with depression all my life. Have been trying different med combinations for the past 5 years. I started in 94 after my second child was born. I decided that sleeping 12-14 hours a day might not fall under the heading of "positive parenting". So far Prozac had been the most effective med. that I have taken except that the sexual side effect and overall lack of feeling that it gave me started to bother me after 2 or so years. I was taking Prozac 40mg every am, Adderall 40mg am and 20mg in afternoon also Buspar 30mg in am and 30mg in afternoon. Two months ago I started Remeron 30mg at night and WOW it has been great! I've been cooking, cleaning, painting and organizing everything. Oh yea, also EATING AND EATING AND EATING. After 4 weeks my doc tapered the Prozac down to 20mg. NOW FOR THE PROBLEM-for the past 2-3 weeks my fingers and toes and the top of my right foot are totally numb. I have trouble with buttons and yesterday my face began to feel numb. I went to my regular doc today and they took blood. He wants me to stop the Remeron to see if it is causing the trouble before doing all sorts of expensive ct brain scans etc. I don't know what to take now. I'm not very happy about the 12 pounds I have gained in 8 weeks and also the numbness scares me but I have been so productive! I am starting to feel some depression creep back in now that the Prozac has been tapered down. I an sick of trying. I don't want to backslide again......HELP!?

In reply to Manic/Dep. Adderall+Buspar+??remeron trouble, posted by Janet on May 14, 1999, at 14:27:07
I go to my psychiatrist tommorrow. I have been off of the Remeron since my last post. My feet are still numb and the top of my right foot is still dead to the touch. Anyone else had this side effect. I feel sooooo fat. I am thinking of trying Serzone again? This time without the Prozac. If anyone has any suggestions for a bipolar II person taking adderall to stay awake who doesn't want the weight gain that remeron caused or the sexual dysfunction that prozac caused, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!
