here is a quick quiz (i believe it's free) that will reveal which of 16 different personality types you are. it's intriguing to read the results about yourself..
http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp
everybody take the test if you don't already know your type. which one are you?? :)

almost lunchtime? are you serious? that's right, you're in the UK, aren't you? it's 5:15 AM where i live (virginia).
i would never have guessed you were an INFJ like i am..i didn't sense that likeness..i guess the types just cover the very basics of a person's personality, leaving room for lots of unique differences and individual elements of personality. but it explains why i seem drawn to more of your thread topics..;

I'm faaaaaar away in South Africa.
There were one or two questions that I mused on for awhile and couldn't really find a "gut instinct" answer.
I have always prided myself on my intuitivity (did I just make up a word?) But am I really that judging? Hmftt!

i think the labels of "judging" and "perceiving" are really misleading. i think it's really just a matter of whether you are a bit more on the serious side or the playful side. did you read the INFJ profile? does it fit you? (it's funny, i would have guessed you were an ENTJ, lol. i'm not too good at guessing most of the time.) can you tell this stuff fascinates me? i have a feeling i'm going to be the only one really into this topic..oh well..won't be the first time.:)

Profile? Doh! I didn't see one. I'll check again.
Don't forget it's still early - I'm sure lots will jump in. And anyway, as you said, it's fun.

ISTJ (or sometimes ESTJ)
Introverted (or extroverted) Sensing Thinking Judging
Heavy on the judging.
I used to be more extroverted, but depression has made me more introverted.
A famous ISTJ is Eeyore. Lucy (from Peanuts) is an ESTJ.
Both descriptions fit me well (and ISTJs make good librarians!).

INFJ
Good test. I hadn't taken a Meyer-Briggs test in over ten years. I've changed from an INTJ to an INFJ.

hi guys. glad to wake up to your responses!:) thanks! my goodness, i can't believe how many INFJs there are! this is definitely disproportionate to how many of us there are in the general population.
ron, i suspected you might be one after i read your very analytical, and accurate, take on why some shoppers are more "magnetic". jlynne, you're also an INFJ (there is no such thing as an IIFJ (sabrina made a typo)). so welcome to the club! :) the numbers just show how much you are skewed toward dominance in each area. the higher the number, the more dominant that personality trait is for you. the fact that you only scored a 1 for judging means your aren't as dominant in that area (trait). you might want to read the INFP profile as well and see if it suits you..:)
fallsfall, yes, i used to be more extraverted, too. as a teenager i scored as an ENFP! (pretty drastic change :)) people's personalities can change over time. usually not too drastically, though..
here's another summary of the infj that i like, too. it covers some things the other one missed:
http://www.personalitypage.com/INFJ.htmland for you, falls fall, another ISTJ profile :
http://www.personalitypage.com/ISTJ.htmlnote: sometimes the test can be inaccurate (i've found it to be extremely accurate in my case, though). you have to check and make sure the profile sounds like you. if it doesn't, read some other similar profiles until you find one that "sounds right".
thanks for playing, guys!
take care,
amy :)

> saraa preference for perceiving and judging do not mean that a person is more perceptive or judgemental. this is a common misconception. please read this quote:
Judging (J) -- Proceeds towards goals in an organized way. Likes to make plans and come to decisions.
Perceiving (P) -- Adapts to life in a spontaneous way. Likes to gather information and keep options open.
"When using these terms, it's important to remember that they have a Myers-Briggs meaning distinct from their meaning in everyday usage. For example, Ps are no more perceptive than Js, while Js are not necessarily judgemental. Ts are not unfeeling, and Fs are not unthinking."amy :)

lar, i thought you might be an INTJ..do you have a really strong thinking preference? (just a hunch.) do you feel the INFJ profile suits you? try reading the INTJ one and see how that one grabs you..

lol. maybe so, wolf, maybe so. in pb land, you seem to be in the minority. :) i think i might share some ENFP tendencies with you, though..i think i tend to be an unusually friendly and enthusiastic INFJ. i'm interested in reading any future threads you'd like to contribute..:)
