You don't see one? They're in the previous archive now, but they should have one there. Those that still haven't been replied to are:

Are you clicking on the link and looking for the flags that way? I think I have some vague memory that they only show up on the main page of each board. The one with the thread listings. Once you click on a thread (or in this case, follow Dr. Bob's links) the green flag doesn't show.

Thanks for doing that. Could you or someone else also answer the first:
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20080903/msgs/851306.html
and these more recent ones?
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20080903/msgs/851998.html
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20080926/msgs/854656.html> no green flags arent't they for only new posts and not older ones? Do the flags disappear?
On what page did you look for green flags? The yellow flags are for new posts, so they disappear, but someone's first post is always their first post, so the green flags stay.

I still do want to close some boards. FYI, here's the number of new posts (not new threads) per week in the current archive of each board:
Medication 610.0
Social 262.5
Administration 147.9
Withdrawal 96.0
Psychology 87.9
Neurotransmitters 15.5
Politics 12.9
Alternative 8.2
Health 8.1
Writing 6.9
Self-Esteem 3.8
Relationships 3.4
Substance Use 3.3
Newbies 3.0
Grief 2.6
Students 2.5
Faith 2.4
Books 2.1
Work 1.9
Parents 1.3
Eating 1.0
2000 0.6I'm thinking I'll close a board not by deleting it, but by automatically redirecting new posts to a different board. How does that sound? I think I now have Work redirecting to Social if you want to try it out.

I could see "Social" as including things like politics, faith, books, work, eating and possibly others. It seems like "social" is a relatively all-inclusive type of term that encompasses just about any interaction between people. Perhaps it is supposed to be more "light hearted"? "Health" could be rolled into "Medications" or maybe hyphenate it - "Health/Medications." Just a thought.

I do think of Social as all-inclusive, but not necessarily light-hearted.

I disagree about Grief. I've always thought that Grief should be part of Social. When someone is grieving, isn't the place to look for comfort the community? Not isolated.

As I think about it, I agree. Also see the practical aspects of putting grief in with social. Both are excellent suggestions IMHO.

PLEASE don't close Politics. Please remember why you created it.

> But Social can be light-hearted, and people who are grieving won't be isolated if others swing by to visit them. Maybe posting links to Social would help?As you said, Social isn't always light hearted. Lots of things are discussed there. People post their feelings of hopelessness, sad things in their life, even their desire not to battle on. Why should grief alone be seggregated? I find the grief board very triggering because it's only grief - unleavened grief. But grief expressed as part of life on the board of the community, I think is appropriate. More appropriate than posters being told to take their grief to someplace they won't depress others.
How about changing the name to General or better yet Community?
