I object to the length of rayw's block » Racer

I believe some posters are being treated differently than others.

I applaud the recent leniency by deputies.

But please.

Equal treatment for all.

According to my calculations based on Dr. Bob's "new math" for block lengths, rayww should be blocked for 18 weeks (if Dr. Bob doubles the adjusted length of nine) or 27 weeks (if he tripled it, though I don't imagine he would). This includes the reduction for time since last blocked.

I'd say six weeks is pretty lenient, based on what Dr. Bob would be likely to do, and of course still may do.

Not that you can't continue to object. Just adding data to the picture.

I'm sorry you see the length of this block as being unfair. As GG noted above, I tried to err on the side of leniency, based on block history of the poster in question. Your objection is noted, however. Please feel free to bring this up to Dr Bob when he returns.

I believe ray got 1.

Equal enforcement please:)

If you treated ray like bob treated you.....

that would be nice :)

and there would be no block at all

length would not be an issue

my understanding is that if you get a pbc on a thread, then continue with the same 'behavior', one then gets a block.

i could be wrong. trust me, that woudln't be the first time. (see, i've been told i'm wrong many tiems, much as i've told many people they are wrong.) and i'll be the first to pbc myself based soley on typing skills.

that's my take on it. is that what you were even asking ducke? (is it pronounced duck or 'duke'?)

kk, getting stupider by the second....

i must say though, you sure are good at playing by the rules ducks! if you tell me you're in love with chevy chase, i'd be tempted to run away with you. (also, please see above)

I guess it's all in the timing then

It seems sad to me that ray is blocked for so long for expressing his sincere beliefs while spewing ugliness at a particular person is ok as long as it has been X amount of time since the last spewage. I don't really see it as a firm rule though based on my observations. More like an editorial decision.

I'm sure bob will return and block the asterisks out of me soon. I DO follow the rules but that never stopped him before.

Babble's no fun for me anymore. I'm sorry if people would prefer me to shut up and just look at the bright side. I don't want to be a killjoy but I can't just look the other way.

How could Racer be responsible for Dr. Bob's decisions about PBCing or blocking her? Please don't hold against her what's the responsibility of another.

Racer can only work from her understanding of Dr Bob's policies, her knowledge and critical thinking skills in assessing posts, and her heart. And she's doing a bang-up job in difficult circumstances. I'd sure hate to see anyone make those circumstances more difficult because of their feelings about someone else.

I care about rayww. I didn't know her gender.

I think the question WWBD? might be answered by looking at WDBD in the past.

I'm not holding it against her! What a thought! I thought the actions of Bob towards her were compassionate and I'm encouraging the widespread adoption of those standards for everyone:)

Personal experience is an excellent source or understanding don't you think? That was all I was saying.

Thanks for your thoughts gg.

As KK pointed out, the rule is that answering a PBC with more of the behavior which led to the PBC results in a block.

As GG pointed out, it was always Dr Bob's decision about whether or not to block me. I resent your repeatedly bringing it up as though I was the one responsible for whether or not I was blocked.

I am trying to do my best as a deputy. I don't make the rules, and I try to interpret them in favor of the posters here. However, I believe that having the rules we have here protect the people who post here, and will therefore continue to do my best to enforce them. I will do this because I believe it is for the good of the community as a whole. If anyone thinks that's wrong, well, we're all entitled to our own beliefs.

We're just not always entitled to express them the way we might want to.

You made my point for me. That's the only reason I brought up your blocks. No need to do it again.

Rayww was NOT responsible for being blocked for six weeks either. You were responsible in the same way bob was responsible for your lack of blocks.

I would respectfully suggest that concerns regarding preferential treatment by or of deputies or differential treatment of posters be addressed directly to Dr. Bob. Publicly debating subjective beliefs of this nature will almost always lead to hurt feelings and uncivil comments.

But, again, that's just my opinion.

Thanks for explaining Mel.

Does it matter to you whether people think you are male or female? I think you are female? But when I first saw your name I wasn't sure because I usually think of Mel as a man's name.

I don't think it does matter to me. But I try to honour the preferences of others if they have any.

but, in indiana, we aren't too keen on words with more than one syllable either. (hence my nickname, 2 letters)
