What if the top of each babble frame/page had a section listing the number of people in the dark chat room? everytime you refresh it, the number of chatters is posted, maybe next to the (regrettably absent) picture of Dr. Bob himself?

-ll

regularly scheduled chats are nice. I just had a lovely conversation with several nice people that went on over an hour :)

Hope to meet you too sometime ;)

No, that's just the way it came. Would a calming vanilla cream color be better? :-)

How about not at the top, but where the Open link is now? Let me give it a try here...

Another suggestion....when someone clicks on profile or settings you should make it a pop-up window. Right now it just opens up where the chat is. I know it doesn't loose any of the chat, but when there are a lot of people in there and the chat goes fast, it's easy to get lost.

Yes! It would be much easier to read, and it would probably feel much less like entering a cave.

Thanks for doing that, btw. I think it will make it more likely that people will go to chat, if they see someone else is there.

Also, I don't know if anything can be done about this, but I just got disconnected from the internet while in chat (stupid dial up dark ages connection!). I tried to get back into chat, but it said gg was already logged in. I couldn't get through anywhere to log out and re-log in.

When you click on someone else, their profile does seem to pop up. Would you change your own profile in the middle of a busy chat? I'm not sure if new options would be applied to a window that stays open...

I don't know what happened, I tried closing the window without logging out and it let me log back in...

Ah, I probably didn't close the window. When I get disconnected, I usually leave everything as is, and then when I reconnect, I just refresh. If it happens again, I'll try closing the window.

Thanks,

It should. At that point there were 7 of us in the chatroom, so things were going pretty fast. I wanted to change the color I was using (hurt my eyes because of the black) and use the "ignore" feature you have (thank you for that!). By the time I got back to the chat, I almost missed part of it since you haven't given us any scroll feature to see what has been said previously. Since you have a refresh rate with this chat, the next time it refreshes, it should apply the options I just chose, right?

Speaking of scroll feature....can we have that? There were a few times I wanted to either quote someone or refer back to something they had said, but couldn't. Once that line of text is off the screen, it's gone.

BTW...a couple of us were wondering if you log the chats. Not that you have time to read them, but more for historical record. Just in case something is said in the chat that needs following up on. Just curious.

Hmm, you could try it and see, just open a second window yourself and change the settings there...

> Speaking of scroll feature....can we have that? There were a few times I wanted to either quote someone or refer back to something they had said, but couldn't.

Scroll back how far? It would probably slow things down, since the server would be sending out more text...

I'm actually not sure if it logs them or not. I've noticed that it create files, but I don't know what it saves or for how long...

Dr. Bob (((((Bob)))))

I was chatting with some people and we all got booted off chat, twice.

Can anything be done to prevent that?

(((((Bob))))) Hehehe, any excuse to communicate with you.

I don't know, exactly what happened? And what time was it?

I think there were five people chatting. We chatted a while (I don't remember how long) and then suddenly we all got booted off chat at the same time. We were all able to log back in fairly quickly. We chat for a while more and then it happened again. I don't remember exactly what happened. Sorry, I have a really bad memory about these things. I posted my post about it not long after it happened. So, maybe a few minutes before 22:40:51 on July 12, 2006?

I will take notice next time it happens.

Dr. Bob, it happened again. There were 5 of us in chat. We all got booted off. This time I made note of where we were brought to.

We get booted off to this screen that says,
-----------------------------------
Invalid session ID
You are not logged in. Either you have been logged out because of a timeout or you have been kicked/banned.

login
----------------------------------------

The time was just before 11:03 EST, so 10:03 central time.

Dr. Bob, we were booted off again and again. At 11:16 p.m. central time, and before 11:23 p.m. central. This time one babbler was cloned.

It took a really long time for anyone to be able to post anything.

Argh! Booted again at 11:42 p.m.

It seems like things start getting dicey when there are 5 or more people in chat.

Is the black background changeable? I nearly always get a migraine when I babblechat for very long, and all black background websites tend to give me a migraine as well, so I'm sure that's it.

That's at least a couple votes for change. Then the text colors would probably need to be changed, too?

I don't know. Anything that would show up on the background chosen should be fine.

Waaay better! And since you can change font colors, boredom is alleviated for us ADD-types who *must* - with some frequency - have variety! ;-)

Thanks, Dr. Bob.

I liked the black better. The font colours are much nicer against the black background, IMO. Red against black, gives a nice goth feel to chat. :-)

Spooky chat! :-)

Who wants calming vanilla cream? LOL

Let's enter a dark, and foreboding chat. We should call it the crypt. LOL

No, seriously, I liked the black better. :-) I'm okay with the calming vanilla cream though, boring as it may be, if others like it. Can you change the font colours? Some of the font colours don't show up nicely on the vanilla cream background.
