Maybe that was MY big mistake. I kept apologizing to Dr.Bob for my irreverence. Maybe he would've liked me if I hadn't.AG (who is still very much reeling from last night here)

However, I realize that although I do my best to do what I believe is in the best interests of the board, my action may distress you. If this distresses you (or others), I sincerely regret that. While I may not be able to repair things in the way that you would wish, I do want to tell you that I and the community value you for your fighting spirit and I hope that this doesn't unduly affect your continued relationship with the community. Angel Girl, to some extent I was kidding and speculating. Dr. Bob shows equal distance to all, as far as I can see. I don't think he has any dislike for you. Anyone who looks for a personal reaction from Dr. Bob is doomed to be disappointed.
But he provides a nice service for us by providing the space for this community. And we can get tons of personal reactions from others here.

> Well, to give him credit, he remembered it and used it properly in context. :) Even more to his credit, he did go to the trouble of rewording it slightly so that it felt more comfortable to him (or to correct my grammar errors) and to personalize it to the poster and the situation.
That's nice, but if he wants us to believe it's really him talking, I think he'll need to reduce it down to 8 words or less. ;-)

I read it as sarcasm.
Another case of two people reading the same thing and getting different impressions, Dr. Bob??

WOW!!! I never considered that Dr. Bob was being sarcastic at all. I thought he was being genuine. Of course, I could be wrong as I tend to be a little naive and want to think the best of everyone. That's not to say that you are wrong, just giving my viewpoint and now am curious to know if Dr. Bob was being genuine or sarcastic.AG

Yeah, Dr. Bob can be a Rorschac test, in this case I didn't sense sarcasm, but on occasion his P.B.C's make me wonder if he has a really dry sense of humor. Like the one that read "Please don't accuse anyone here of causing the deaths of millions.
But other times, I think he's just being Auto-Bob

I thought Dr Bob's post was a real departure from the ol' cut and paste from the FAQs. My sarcasm detector wasn't alerted, but it does need to be recalibrated after the workout it gets here sometimes.

I really liked it, it's unfortunate though, every time I see he makes an effort to be more personal, because of the reaction I can understand why he was the way he was before.
I think he made a friendly comment to someone's post recently, and someone else was hurt because he hadn't commented on their post.
I'm not criticizing the reactions at all, it just helps me understand why he maintains his distance.

Wow!!! That's a new one to me. What was the post that he would make that kind of comment on?

I guess it just goes to prove that you can't ever make everybody happy, especially when there are so many posters here.

Oh it was an old old one, and I can't remember off hand, I think it *may* have been about someone advocating a certain medication, but it's the response that registered with me.
It's in the archives íf you do a search.

GabbixI think the response is comical unless it was about meds, then maybe not.

I know that for certain.
I would be sorry though if his taking my suggestion led to problems for him. I thought it was kind of nice of him.

First read - I thought sarcasm. Second read (and considering the source) I figured it wasn't.
But then it occurred to me that it *was* a prime example of reading different things into the same words. Something that often happens here..... Something I usually tend to read in a good light.
So I decided to post it. Probably just a sick way of making an old point.
I'll go sit in the corner now.

No need for corner sitting!
I guess I just feel like Gabbi. I want to encourage Dr. Bob to be more open with us. More playful even.
Although I'm as guilty as anyone at wondering about his motives when he does. Bad me.
Wouldn't it be lovely if Dr. Bob felt like he could be more the Dr. Bob he was in the early days? Those early Babblers got to experience something we've missed, and that I suspect is a valuable thing.

I know what you mean. If I hadn't started with reading the archives and felt like I new lots of the folks already I probably wouldn't be here.
I felt like I experienced something special just reading the archives.
But I also understand that it's grown a lot and with growth must come change. While it's sad it can't be like it was back then, it is good that more people are being helped.
This is the first forum I've been on. Probably my last, too. Anything else would probably be like wearing rhinestones.
