Question

Posted by TexasChic on July 22, 2004, at 14:05:37

Will I get a PCB if I tell someone they're not being very nice (when they really aren't)?

Yes. A PBC (please be civil, not polychlorinated biphenyl).

You could say, for example, "I feel hurt", or simpler yet, "Ouch!". Whatever matches the context, but restrict your remarks to your own feelings, and you should be fine.

Good answer, jyl.

I'm trying extra hard to be nice. I'm not sure how it got started, who was the first to be not nice, or if it was intentionas, but it did seem to me like he/she was being ganged up on. And I'm a bit sensative about that.

And I'm not pointing any fingers, since I really don't know how it got started.

I'm certainly seeing that it can be a difficult task. I'm not convinced yet that it isn't a worthwhile one. Either way, I think we can all hold our head up for trying.

If you shared the contents of your email to me with everyone?

I know I was impressed, and I'm sure others would be as well.

Well, I can share the part that won't get me in trouble with Dr. Bob. And I'll tone it down a bit.

I just noticed a huge similarity between the posting style of mister and the Chimp. Now, I could be wrong................

But it was also interesting the "affinity" both had for Dinah.

And as you aren't supposed to post while blocked, I suppose I should block you. But I'll let Dr. Bob do that because of my fondness of you from old. You haven't been unkind to anyone but me, so I'll let Dr. Bob handle it.

Very nice impersonation, btw.

hello there, chemist here...as usual, i am compelled to share my unsolicited opinion: if indeed a single person has been hoodwinking PB in a negative way under the guise of (at least) 3 different names, then let's hear it. all of it. including headers with IPs for all relays. it's always nice to return a favor. all the best, chemist

And this may just be my years of fondness speaking, because what happened hasn't really sunk in yet, but the funny thing is that I think Auntie Mel and Brio were both fine additions to the board. I'm sorry the positive feelings I had toward Brio were not returned.

but are you saying you know someone is posting while being blocked and you will not step in because you are fond of that person?

deputy posting rules are strange things, jyl. there are only certain very limited times when i *can* do anything, and i never *have* to do anything. That's clearly stated.

and i have one i've added on my own, due to my own sense of what's right and wrong. i don't feel comfortable blocking someone whose only offense is to me. Auntie Mel has been a model poster, if you don't count her email to me. If I blocked her myself it wouldn't feel right, because her only offense is to me. And please don't charge favoritism, because I *did* block the same poster under different circumstances.

And actually, I think that's a sensible rule I have for myself. Because a lot of times, I would tend to think someone is being uncivil to me, while Dr. Bob doesn't think so. The objectivity is not there. I've forwarded all information to Dr. Bob. He can read the posts here to see if he thinks my conclusions are valid, and it's up to him to decide what to do.

Has Auntie Mel been uncivil to anyone else?

Boy, am I confused. I said I thought I saw similarities between two others.

I can assure you I am neither of the above. And as soon as Dr. Bob can check the ip address I am sure he will back me up.

But thanks. I have been unable to cry in a very long time. It feels good for a change.

I never did get one from anyone other than Brio.
