Hi,
I remember that thread. The doctor who chimed in is one of the three doctors who is fully trained in the rEEG method.

This is great, I hope whatever you try works wonders for you. Ritalin made me tired and slow initially, and then that wore off after an hour or two. That's when it kicked in. Adderall made me tired the first day I took it, but after that I was fine. If you are ADD the stimulants might make you tired, they're supposed to slow you down. Trial and error.

I've just started hearing from people that stimulants may make you tired at first but that doesn't mean that they won't eventually work for you. Thanks for reinforcing that and for your good wishes.

You might want to check out www.addforums.com And scroll down to the section on meds. Lots of info and different experiences there. Just keep in mind that if someone else has a bad experience yours won't neccessarily be the same, so don't freak out b4 you try something.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes. I'm not quite as psyched as when I first got out of the appointment. My skeptical side is coming through or maybe it's just that I'm afraid of being disappointed. I think things are hopeful but I shouldn't be celebrating just yet. Still a long ways to go...

Since my pulse rate has been in the normal range when I took it over the course of a day, the doctor said that I don't need the beta blockers. It was only high in his office because I was stressed out and afraid.

Now, he wants to get me in to have the actual rEEG done earlier - at the end of this week or the beginning of next week. He will do it with the small amount of doxepin that I'm on as I literally can't function for 12 days without it or something else for the anxiety. He said he'll just have to adjust for that mentally. I hope it doesn't throw things off by too much and draw out the process. I'm excited that things will be moving along quickly though.

Hi Kara.
Thanks so much for the follow-up. I think it makes sense to stay on the tiny bit of Doxepin. Perhaps, at a later date, you can have the rEEG when you're not on any meds, but for now, this seems like the best course of action. I'm glad to hear that your pulse has been normal. Please continue to let us know how things are going.

Hi Sarah,
That was very kind of you to post that. I regretted writing my last message. After sending it I thought that it didn't contain any important information for people who are interested in hearing about the rEEG process. It really only was a detail that's important to me.
Anyway, I appreciate your support.

I sent you a babblemail with the details.

If all goes really well for me and there's enough interest on the board, then I'll post all of the details here as well.

I had wanted to see how things turned out before posting the name the name of the doctor/clinic but I think enough people are interested so I'll just post that information here now.

There are 3 doctors who are fully versed in how to use rEEG though there are also quite a few others who use it with outside help in interpreting results and advising treatment. The doctor who was posting here on Babble and answered a lot of our questions is one of the 3. He isn't the one I am going to however.

The doctor I saw is Hamlin Emory. He's located around Los Angeles (an office in Beverly Hills and another one in Thousand Oaks). He's one of the two doctors who devised the whole rEEG process. I believe the brain scans existed already but they devised a way to compare them to similar brain scans of others to see what medications worked for those others. They created a database with the results of many scans that is used to help prescribe for new patients. Anyway, here's his website:

http://www.drhamlinemory.com/

and here's the website for the company he founded that created the database:

http://www.cnsresponse.com

By following links on these websites you should be able to find out if there are any doctors near where you live who use this system.

I was impressed at my first visit but it is very early in the process for me. I don't know yet what he is going to prescribe for me or what kind of result I will have. I'll continue to post about my experience as it plays out. I've heard of people that he has been able to help very quickly but I've also heard of at least one person who had a prolonged period of testing things out and retaking the brain scans. She is the person who recommended him so highly to me. My fingers are crossed that it works out well for me and that I'm able to recommend this to help many others.

Thanks so much! I'm a little discouraged right now because I have to wait another couple of weeks for the rEEG test. I've been having the worst time getting prior blood test results faxed over to Dr. Emory's office. Because of that I won't be able to get the rEEG done before the technician goes on vacation. Oh well, what's another couple of weeks when you've suffered for years already, right?
